Yes, after a year their preseason travels to Treviso and beyond in Europe, the Suns will return to the University of Arizona and McKale Center for training camp in October. It’s the second time in three years the Suns will train in Tucson and with Wildcat grads Robert Sarver and Steve Kerr now at the controls, it appears the team’s time in Flagstaff — where Phoenix trained for much of the previous two decades — has come to an end. The Suns have been happy with the rise of interest in the Tucson market that dovetailed with the resurgence of the franchise three years ago, and the addition of local hero Kerr atop the organization can only helpWith Phoenix nearly tapped out as a resource for new revenues — the building is sold out, the TV ratings are high and most of the high-profile businesses are on board in one form or another — the Old Pueblo has always been seen as the natural place to expand interest and income. The challenge is to somehow break through the "Phoenix vs. Tucson" mindset and make the franchise strong state-wide.
