A closer look at the Suns schedule

August 2nd, 2007, 5:15 pm by jerrybrown

At first glance, this 2007-08 Phoenix schedule looks a lot like the 2004-05 slate, when the Suns won 31 of their first 34 games on their way to a 62-win season and set a franchise record going 31-10 on the road. That year, the Suns played seven of their first 10 on the road (going 8-2) and never looked back. And after playing two of the first three at home to open next season, 12 of the next 18 games are on the road as Phoenix gets two of their four long Eastern road swings out of the way early.Phoenix plays on Christmas Day for the first time since 1997-98 and is on the road for the holiday for the first time since 1982-83 (yes, my wife and family are thrilled about this) when the Suns face the Lakers in Los Angeles in a 3 p.m. start. Maybe I can leave that morning and still get back at night, huh?One good thing: Not a lot of 8:30 p.m. TV games early in the season, which was almost ridiculous to begin last season. The Suns still play a lot of 8:30 TV games (six of them are at home) but they are spread out evenly over the season. Last year, the Suns had seven 8:30 starts in the first month along (the new Daylight Savings Time does help there). The Suns also play fewer back-to-back games this season

How now Brown acquisition?

How now Brown acquisition? The Boston Herald not only reported today’s signing of ex-Sun Eddie House to run with the Dynamic Trio of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, the paper also had some interesting insight on the Suns’ possible pursuit of center P.J. Brown. The 37-year-old Brown has made it known to the Celtics that if he plays in 2007-08, he would be seeking the full mid-level exception of $5.6 million. That prices him out of Boston
