If there is any doubt where Shawn Marion would like to be headed, check out this short interview with The Matrix at the Video Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sept. 9. Does it seem like he wants to say more?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kVc53l0cBI&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ethebasketballjones%2Enet%2F2007%2F09%2F28%2Fmarion%2Dwhen%2Dyou%2Dwant%2Dme%2Dto%2Dbe%2Da%2Dlaker%2F

One Response to “Marion: "When do you want me to be a Laker?"”

  1. TexSUN@Bright Side of the Sun Says:

Oh come on! Jerry, I love your stuff. You are normally one of my favorite beat writers for the Suns. But this just seems like a blatant case of creating controversy out of something that’s on its own, fairly innocuous. I hope your readers take the time to actually *watch* the video instead of just reading what you wrote about it. Had the trade request not taken place, this video would just seem like The Matrix was kidding around. He’s laughing the whole time when he says the “when do you want me to be a Laker” line. It’s in response to someone asking him when he’s going to be, and after he says it, he twice repeats “I’m a Phoenix Sun”, and doesn’t even sound too upset about it. He even misunderstood the question at first to be “when are you going to *beat* the Lakers”, so it doesn’t sound like he even had becoming a Laker on the mind at that moment until the reporter brought it up. And that discussion is only a tiny part of the interview that was otherwise about the VMA’s and Marion being back “home” in Vegas. Like I said, I normally love your stuff. But you and the Tribune are better than this.
