After filling their holes on the court this summer, the Suns have filled one off the floor with ex-Sun Scott Williams taking over for Dan Majerle as a television analyst. Majerle is now an assistant coach under Terry Porter.
Williams, who did Milwaukee Bucks telecasts for FSN Wisconsin last season, will split color duties with Eddie Johnson. Tom Leander (Channel 45) and Gary Bender (FSN Arizona) will handle the play by play. On radio, Tim Kempton returns to team with Al McCoy, who embarks on his 39th season with the Suns.
Once again, all 82 Suns regular-season games (as well as the preseason outdoor game in Palm Springs, Calif.) will be televised in HD. Channel 45 will broadcast 41 games, FSN Arizona has 29 and the remaining 12 will be seen exclusively on national television via TNT, ESPN or ABC.

How about the Suns going the extra mile and dumping Al McCoy? His homer-isms have gone on long enough.

Ronson,
You’re evidently a newcomer to the Valley, and generally naive concerning NBA hometown broadcasters. Of course Al McCoy is a homer - he’s supposed to be! He’s the Suns broadcast play by play man. Do you expect him to pull for the other team? That’s not what the fans want to hear from their hometown play by play man. He’s not a network broadcaster who you would expect to be more even handed. Al McCoy is a classic! I grew up listening to him and his sometimes corny nicknames for the players, and he has been the one thing consistent about the ever changing Suns. Suns games wouldn’t be the same without him. He’s a classy guy and good at what he does. That’s why he was inducted into the NBA broadcast hall of fame. LONG LIVE AL MCCOY!

Hey Al,
My family and i are Suns fanatics we try to watch every single game even with the pre-season games. My kids grew up knowing Barkly and Thunder Dan Marjele, lols I think the spelling is correct if not someone will let me know right. But my question is. Do you think that the Suns can win now against the Darn Spurs? My feeling are that we can get past them and go on to the Finals and clog up the middle now. with what we have Shaq, the franchise (Amarie), and now Lopez we need Lopez to get strong fast and get him ready for the playoffs..
Thanks Alot Al we’ve been listening to ur voice for 30+years ur the man,
